Trujillo

Trujillo is the capital of the department of La Libertad and the third largest city in Peru. Various pre-columbian cultures developed here: Cupisnique, Moche or Mochica and Chimú. Many remnants of this period can still be admired today: the world's largest all-clay city, Chan Chan, and the huacas (pyramids) of the dragon, the sun and the moon.

Culturally, Trujillo is best known for the dance «Marinera». The «National Marinera Competition» is held here every year. However, the equestrian competitions with the horses «Caballos de Paso» are also important events in the life of the city.
