Bosque de Pómac – Batan Grande

The «Santuario Histórico Bosque de Pómac» (Historical Sanctuary Bosque de Pómac) emerged from the «Zona Reservada de Batán Grande» (Reserved Zone Batán Grande) to preserve the landscape-cultural unity of the tropical dry forest with the archaeological complex Sican. The protected area includes the world's largest and densest forest with carob trees and 36 truncated pyramids of the Sican culture. In 1995, the «Señor de Sicán» with his gold mask was discovered in the «Huaca El Oro» pyramid.
