Caral

1 day - Start: daily

The sacred city of Caral was built by the first political state in Peru 4400 years before the Inca Empire. Caral-Supe represents the oldest civilization in the Americas, which developed at about the same time as the civilizations of Mesopotania, Egypt, India, and China. The early development of Caral-Supe society makes it the oldest New World civilization that achieved unprecedented progress in total isolation from other contemporary cultures in America and the Old World.

The city of Caral is located at the beginning of the middle section of the Supe valley, Barranca province, 184 km north of Lima. Among all settlements known in Peru from the period 3000 to 2000 BC it stands out for its size and architecture.
