Trekking: from the Santa Cruz valley to Llanganuco

This is the classic and most popular trekking route of the Cordillera Blanca. 4 or 5 days on foot in one of the most spectacular areas of the Cordillera Blanca, through gorges adorned with turquoise lakes, quenual forests, high Andean meadows with the special environment characterized by the ichu (type of grass) and always surrounded by the towering and challenging peaks exceeding 6000 m in height, crossing high passes, Punta Unión (4750 m) and Portachuelo de Llanganuco (4765 m). This hike offers us contemplation of the most famous peaks of the Cordillera Blanca.

This route gradually climbs clockwise, so that we reach the highest points well acclimatized.

The tour begins in the Santa Cuz valley. In a slow ascent we come to the Punta Unión pass (4750 m) to then descend to Vaqueria through the Huaripampa gorge. From here, depending on the program, continue on foot or by car to Portachuelo de Llanganuco (4765 m) and then descend through the Llanganuco valley. We visit the Llanganuco lakes, Chinancocha and Orkoncocha, then return to Huaraz.
