Day trip
The Revash mausoleums are burial buildings that housed several mummies at the same time. They resemble small houses and form a miniature city nestled in the area's limestone cliffs. This type of burial is unusual and unique. The museum in Leymebamba contains more than 2000 archaeological finds from northern Peru. It also houses 219 mummies in perfect condition, taken from the pre-hispanic tombs of the Laguna de los Cóndores.
• Drive from Chachapoyas to the town of San Bartolo (about 2 hours).
• Short hike to the Revash mausoleums.
• Continue to Leymebamba.
• Visit to the «Centro Mallqui» museum with enough time to admire the remains of pre-hispanic materials such as ceramics, textiles, quipus and mummies.
• Return to Chachapoyas.
