Full Adventure in Muyuna Lodge

Muyuna Amazon
Lodge is an eco lodge located in the heart of the Amazon river jungle 140
km upstream from Iquitos, within the Tamshiyacu-Tahuayo Reserve and near
the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve. Being in a remote and virgin area,
the observation of animals in their natural habitat is guaranteed.
• Land transfer from hotel or airport.
• Departure before 10:00 h by road and river
to the lodge (total journey takes about 3 hours).
• Lunch.
• First jungle immersion: meet the Pygmy
Marmoset, the smallest monkey in the world.
• Walk around the botanical garden, explore
local plants and learn about composting practices.
• Dinner.
• Nocturnal excursion by boat to see caymans,
nocturnal birds and mammals. Reception at Iquitos airport or hotel
pick-up in Iquitos.
• Breakfast.
• Excursion to swim in the Amazon river and
watch gray and pink dolphins.
• Observation of Victoria Regia, the largest
aquatic plant in the world. Observation of iguanas.
• Lunch.
• Piranha fishing.
• Sunset on Sapote Lake.
• Dinner.
• Night walk in search of huge tarantulas and
frogs. Early morning hike into the remote
jungle to track the crax globulosa (Crax globulosa). This is threatened
with extinction and can only be found here in Peru.
• Nature’s awakening: birdwatching at dawn. No experience required.

• Boat excursion to lakes or streams upriver.
• Visit to
the village of San Juan de Yanayacu.
• Lunch.
• Observation of
Hoatzin, a prehistoric bird found on swamps.
• Dinner.
• Nocturnal
canoe trip to listen to the jungle.
• Breakfast.
• Full day: Exploration
to remote location upstream, observing birds, sloths, monkeys and insects.
• Lunch in the middle of
the jungle.
• Camping set up.
• Exploration of
surroundings.
• Dinner in the middle of
the jungle.
• Night walk looking for
frogs and insects.
• Picnic breakfast.
• Excursion in search of strange species.
• Return
to lodge.
• Lunch at Muyuna.
• Kayaking or canoe ride along
Yanayacu.
• Dinner.
• Free-choice night activity.
• Breakfast.
• Boat excursion to
remote lake.
• Wind down on hammocks,
poofs or swimming in Yanayacu river before departure.
• At 13:00 h we depart
from the lodge to the airport or hotel.
• Arrival at 16:00 h
approximately.
• This
program can also be shortened to 5, 4 or 3 days by omitting some
activities.
